Hi.

I have an Ideal Mini boiler with an external analogue timer. For ages now it has been grinding And keeping me awake at night.

My questions are:

1) Can this easily be replaced with a digital external timer?

2) does it need to be a gas safe registered engineer that does this?

3) What make/model of timer would you suggest that is relitavely cheap?

Many thanks.

Horstmann C17 or C27 (1/2 channel) are cheap (under £30) but well made and reliable IMHO. Use former for a combi, latter for non-combis.

Downside is that programming is not exactly intuitive, so you'll need to keep the instructions nearby!

VI'VE just been told today that not all timers are compatible as they might blow the pcb on the boiler? Dunno weather it's just a guy trying to get out of doing the job or if this is correct? Didn't think an external timer would blow a pcb?
