Hello everyone,

I am a newcomer so please be patient.

I am fitting a Wickes bedroom myself and have to the finishing stage.

I have to fit the plinth and cornice. I have tried to work out the angles but there gaps are still appearing. I have got a circular mitre saw which can be set to 0-45 degrees.

I have made a few cuts but there are gaps and also the wood (veneer) is getting badly chipped. My problem is that the floor is not totally level and the walls aren't straight. Can anyone tell me the following:

1. How to measure and cut plinth for an external corner.
2. How to measure and cut cornice for both internal and external corners.

Need help urgently starting to panic!

Regarding the veneer getting chipped I discovered that placing masking tape over where you're about to cut can help prevent splintering.

I also found that cutting in certain directions also helped prevent splintering. i.e. if the saw spins through the veneer outwards it rips it up more than if you're cutting down through it into the wood beneath.
