How do plasterers/builders close the reveals on external doors?

Tried today to stick a piece of plasterboard on one reveal at the utility room door, it is a cavity wall and we have 100mm block, 100mm cavity with plastic cavity closer over it, and finally the door frame. The cavity closers are hard plastic but it still flexes and moves, and the whole board also flexed and moved as a result.

Over the top of the door, there is a standard lintel with polystyrene insulation - how am I supposed to cover that area?

On all other windows reveals I have used a frame made of 18mm ply instead of plasterboard, and the ply is man enough to stay firm and solid. Here are photos showing windows I did like this.

I can do the same technique on the utility room door, but there the reveals are MUCH larger, and it would take a lot of ply, and I am not sure how to attach it to the top, basically drill through the metal lintel into bricks? I attach a photo of the door.
