The house that we moved in (been built for 5/6 years) has a connection on the outside wall for lighting, we have bought a fixture but when taking back the covering for the cable I was faced with red, black and something that appears to be a bare copper wire.

Will my light fitting be safe to fit?

Thanks

Red - Live (connect to brown)
Black - Neutral (connect to blue)
Bare copper wire - Earth (sleeve with green/yellow sleeving and connect to green/yellow if applicable)

All quite normal.

Ok, I did assume the other would be earth but because its bare I wasn't going to fit it and end up blowing myself to china.
