Hi, we had a Grant's vortex Pro external combi 26 oil boiler installed in July 2024. Approximately 3 weeks later we noticed that the boiler was coming on by itself and would sometimes be on for hours before we noticed. The thermostat (a Center RF wireless thermostat) was not calling for heat, was set to OFF and was set to manual. It's been happening on and off ever since, sometimes with large gaps of time between occurrences.
There is no identifiable pattern to when this happens, it does not occur at a particular time a day and does not seem to be related to cold temperatures as it has happened when it has been warmer.
Some notes that might be relevant, the last time the boiler was came on by itself, we went to the room where the boiler receiver is, the thermostat was set to off and no flame symbol was showing. However when we clicked the on/off button on the thermostat, the boiler receiver was making clicking on off noises.
The fitter recently replaced the thermostat with a new one but it's happened again. He now suggests getting a hive system but I'm not sure that will help.
