Hi
I’ve just been weeded the drive and when I was removing the weeds around the stop cock man hole I though I would lift it couple to check that lid was not seized, it was but after some brute force th hinge freed off but to my shock I’ve found it full of soil??? I wasn’t sure how deep these taps normally are so assumed a bit of soil had got it somehow. I’ve removed loads of soil and now can get my arm elbow deep down but the stop cock is still not visible and there is still some soil in there, there are some fitting but I assume these are where it beaches off to th neighbours. Why would it be full of soil, this is the only external stop cock I know about, would Severn Trent ever do this if they relocated the stop cock or has someon maliciously done this. Should I keep taking the soil out or is there a practical reason to this and should I put the soil back.
