This the current situation. I need to fix a leak in the waste pipe from the bathroom but really the whole lot just looks like a mess and that it could be improved.

The bathroom waste water and condensate pipes go into the top of the guttering. Could all this of this plumbing be replaced and done properly, by keeping the gutter downpipe separate from the bathroom and condensate pipes?

And yes, the exterior light is not in a good position and needs to be moved! Its currently turned off.

It does rather depend on how far you want to go, but agree with you, it is a mess! The gully doesn't look in the best of condition, and the staining on the wall, and cracks around the gully are of concern as water is likely to be getting into the foundations of the building, as well as creating a rather unsanitary situation.

What is to the left of the picture, out of shot, is there a Stack taking the WC from that bathroom? Simple option there could be to reroute the basin and bath wastes to the stack.

Gully also needs attention. If you are able, I'd look at removing the existing gully, and fit a Back Entry Gully. The Rainwater pipe can then be directly connected to the back inlet, tidying that up. Then, is connecting the wastes to the stack is not an option, combine them into a 50mm waste, which can be run down the wall parallel with the rainwater downpipe, and made to discharge below the grid on the new gully. Likewise with the sink waste.

This should tidy things up, ensure the water is going where it should do, and prevent any further damage to the brickwork and/or foundations of the building.

Thanks Hugh. Indeed, to the left is a cast iron soil stack, i had assumed connecting to that could be a pain given its cast iron?

Now you have me thinking about the gulley, I think the new gully would need to be offset from the wall more than the current one to allow space for the back entry port? I can take some pics of it, if that would be useful

Ah, cast is a bugger, I wouldn't recommend messing with it, unless you're planning on replacing.

Any idea which way the outlet from the existing gulley goes? I would say try and level it up, but given its position, it's going to be slightly awkward to connect anything to it I think. Will mean some disturbing of the flags and blocks to sort things out, but long term the benefits will outweigh the aggro. May be possible to sit the new Gully sideways on, will depend on the outgoing pipework as to how easy it is, but nothing that cant be overcome.
