Hi all. I have just bought a new place and the extractor fan in the bathroom seems to come on at random, regardless of being tripped by the bathgroom light or any other switch. It is waking my pregnant girlfriend up in the middle of the night and I am getting it in the neck!... I am guessing that the timer is wonky... how do I fix it?

Timed extractors require one permanent live, and one switched live.....maybe they are connected the wrong way round but that wouldn't switch the thing on automatically anyway.
Simply replace the extractor as a complete unit - if you are sure there is no problems with whatever switches it on....PIR switch, humidity sensor etc.
Tell us what make it is, if you can.
John :)

Thanks, John. I can't see the make but the sticker inside says Domus Ventilation Ltd. Model H1

Humidity sensor will operate randomly, either bypass sensor [if you know how to] or change fan for timer model.

That's a great help. thanks! I don;t know how to bypass the sensor.... but I'm up for having a go. I mean I can always replace the unit if it goes wrong...

Domus is part of the Polypipe group, and yes, the H1 is a humidistat fan.
Personally I'd change it for a purely timed one...much simpler and reliable.
John :)
