i have bought a standard extractor fan (not timed) to fit in my bathroom, there are two wires coming from fan (no earth) and i want to connect it so it comes on with the bathroom light, any help would be gratefully accepted.

No, you're asking us to tell you exactly what to do.

All I'm asking is which wires you think you should be connecting to.

there is no live and neutral at most light switches, see sticky for refrnce thats what its for

No, fair guess.

Yeah, you need switched live & a neutral from the ceiling.

No tricks, just wondered what you were thinking, that's all!!

Basically you connect your fan across the lamp in the bathroom. Thats the neutral (blue or black) and the live (brown or red).
