how do I wire a bathroom fan with a timer, it obviously needs to live supplies can I use twin & earth?

You need two live supplies - one from the live side of the light switch, and one from the switched side of the lightwitch. You will also need a neutral, and probably an earth. You would be better using 4-core cable, but you could use 1.5 mm twin and earth with a seperate 1.5 mm PVC/PVC single for the additional live supply.

I normally use 3 core and earth 1mm cable. Fan consumption typically 25W or 0.1A so tiny. Nothing wrong but only really need round 4 core cable in areas needing IPx4 protection - swimming pools!
I ensure Yellow goes to light switch on switch live side. Rest Live, neutral and earth.
