extractor hood

I have purchased a 250 watt extractor fan for my kitchen. The wall units at either side of my hood have a junction box which supply the lights for the wall units. can i connect the cable from the hood into this box or does it need to protected by a fuse/isolating switch. The instructions mention nothing about a fused spur,
