A customer of mine has an extractor hood which has become faulty, looking at the label it is made by "Bernstein Group PLC", which looking on the net - went into administration quite a while ago.

The problem with the fan is that the housing containing the door micro switch has lost one of it's mounting pins, this allows the switch to move and hence the problem - the extractor does not operate when the door is opened. The easiest way to fix this would be to fix a small nut and bolt through the switch and housing, however it is DI so I cannot do that.

Does anyone know of a parts supplier for this make of extractor, or some other way of a permanent fix.

You definitely can, I work in a university and have used them to mount intruments that need to be electrically isolated.

Didn't know that you could get them small enough. Would have to be M1.0 to M1.5

Most micro switches down to size V4 have holes of at least 2mm diameter. ( or 2.5 if you use the screw to cut a bit of thread into the plastic ).

If the micro-switch is fitted to a plastic ( or other non conduting material ) and there is no other metallic frame within ( from memory ) 6 mm of any part of the the nuts and bolts used to fix the switch then a metal screw should not compromise the double insulation.

Putting the micro-switch on plastic pillars is a cost saving to remove the need to screw up 2 nuts and bolts.
