Have you ever had to fit an Aqualisa cartridge with a green band ?

yes cartridge no 022803 used on balanced high pressure unvented used in the 80s early 90s it was used with the classic aquavalve 200, 400 valves and aquamixa bath shower mixer
it was replaced with the grey cartridge in the mid 90s
for replacement use grey cartridge no 022801

I have an Aquavalve 700 running of an unvented hot water cylinder at 3 Bar. The hot and cold feeds to the valves are in 22mm. The output from the valve is also in 22mm.

The problem I have is the water supply from the shower head overwhelms the standard 40mm shower waste.

I have read that the green cartridge would restict the flow rate to 17L/min which the shower waste would handle more easily.

Could I simply place a restrictor ( which In understand are available ) in the rear of the existing grey cartridge to create the same effect or would it interfere with the operation of the cartridge ?

You can put a restrictor on the shower head connection...

Apart from reducing the flow ( which is the base plan ) I take it that this will not have any downsides ?

As the water is exiting the head to atmosphere pressure I take it that the restrictor will therefore not cause any significant back pressure on the actual shower valve ?

As the valve is rated for 10 Bar and the water is running at 3 Bar, then I have perhaps answered my own question ???

i think you have got it sorted the flow restrictor is only for unbalanced supply's (combis) on the aquarian valve not the 700

My apologies - I am a bit confused.

If you had the choice of either fitting the green Aqualisa cartridge into the shower valve, thus relplacing the grey cartridge

or

simply fitting a restrictor into the shower head

which would be the technically best option ?

( I understand that the green cartidge is an option when installing an Opto Thermo shower valve in a high pressure balanced system. )

I take it the restrictor in the shower head would have not detrimental effect on the operation of the grey cartridge ?

the green stat was discontinued in the mid 90s the holes on the hot and cold side were smaller than the grey to reduce flow into the shower on high pressure balanced systems
i would fit pressure reducing valves on the inlets to the shower (hot and cold) you can reduce to 15mm, if you fit adjustable valves you can set them to your requirements both hot and cold need to be same pressure
have you tried fitting a high flow trap on shower tray i think mcalpine may make them

Sorry 2 bring this thread up from the dead , but i have a aqualisa oph4111 high pressure with green band , can i fit this to a 30kw combi boiler, what weould the flow rate be like if connected
