Bought a stack (14) of these for the garage:

All were new/still wrapped. One had a really obvious moulding fault (undershot) and another had a broken switch. Am I just unlucky here, or are MK bits just not built the way they used to be? Are there chinese knockoffs about, and is the vendor known for selling them/seconds?

They replaced them FOC, but I'm pretty surprised at both the quality/quality control (or lack thereof)!

oh no not another company moving their manufacturing to china???? this is getting silly. I like things that are proper british, hate fixing (or throwing away) chinese stuff.

Ahem

I think this not racist issue more of a quality issue as 'british' manufacturers move to far east production to reduce costs

The illegal trade in counterfeit items is growing.

And the counterfeits are geting into the regular supply chain in too many industries.

I had batch from Screwfix recently which had dodgy switches, but all ok since

I am not and never have been a big fan of MK. I may have just been unlucky but I have had more trouble with them than any other makes
Also they are hugely overpriced
Aaahhh for the days of Ashley before they were overtaken by Hagar (the Horrible)

Add Wylex MCBs to the list of rubbish.

After much cursing and double/triple checking the re-wiring of the new CU and the existing house wiring, it turns out that 1 of 11 brand spanker MCBs just fitted is open circuit, even with the switch in the 'on' position.

They're both ISO 9001. Being annoyed at having to re-order bits, wait, and re-work bits - as well as somewhat concerned about the junk they're shipping that has the potential to kill, injure, or set the damn house on fire - I think the new year shall be a time for a grilling on their QC procedures... :D :o

Not sure about the New Logic MK but the old logic was really bad for returns
