Who would we give the Falklands back to? The French Canadians? The Falklands was populated by two groups, within months of each other, the French kicked out of Canada arrived back in France and were told we have no room for you, go and populate the Falklands, and settled in the West, and then the British settled in the East neither group knowing the other existed, then the French found out about the British and kicked them off, so we send down a task force to kick the French off, between the French being kicked off and them arriving home, the French gave the Falklands to Spain to appease them, but Spain did nothing about the Falklands, however when the Argentine was given home rule the Spanish passed on the paperwork from the gift from France.
But the Falklands has never been populated by the Argentine except during the Falklands war, most the people who live there are of Scottish descent, and the 90-year-old woman I met who had never left the Falklands still called the UK home, they are if anything more British than the British, I lived there for 4.5 years, and there are one or two Spanish words they use, cattle grid is a castle arbry, and the countryside is called the camp from Spanish Campo, as their children used to go to the Argentine for final schooling.
But it is super British, cornflakes on the table in the morning etc. To give the Falklands to Argentine would be like saying the Brittany are of France is Welsh, and it should be given back to us. Well it was I suppose the other way around William conquer us and Brittany and UK became one country.
The Falkland has been British for nearly 200 years, how far back should one go, should we go back to Roman rule?
