Thats right.Hong Kong was owned on a fixed term lease, it expired. That doesn't apply to the Falklands.

Lol, give them back.before we give them (the Falklands) back.
No problems thenLol, give them back.
Sell them back. they have zero use. Give the islanders compensation and asylum here if they want it and/or do a Hong Kong style lease.

There are so few of them and it's so expensive defending and subsidising them we could give every one of them a million pounds, resettle them in Hull and break even in less than 30 years.Lol, give them back.

Hull? What you got against them? There are so few of them and it's so expensive defending and subsidising them we could give every one of them a million pounds, resettle them in Hull and break even in less than 30 years.
It'd be like a tropical holiday for them.Hull? What you got against them?
Hong Kong felt the same way. Just because they want to be British doesn't make them British.

The Falklands are self sufficient and we trade with them on a better deal in our favour. It costs us £60 million per anum on military defence. So economically it isnt a big drain. on the UK, look at the bill for illegal immigrants we have, not sure about them coming to Hull, it would be quite a culture shock I would expect plus the language barrier is always a problem. There are so few of them and it's so expensive defending and subsidising them we could give every one of them a million pounds, resettle them in Hull and break even in less than 30 years.
The people there wanted to be British, isn't that all that matters?Nowt to do with it

Yes, becauseYou brought up the subject of Hong Kong
And no if the Falklands was on some lease the fact that they wanted to be British tough if a lease runs out the same as Hong Kong
And apparently we forced China to ceed it to us in perpetuity in 1840 something. We then realised keeping it wasn't going to work and arranged a phased handover with the 99 year lease. The people of the Falklands want it to remain a British territory
As far as I know Argentina never owned the Falklands in the first place. You brought up the subject of Hong Kong
And no if the Falklands was on some lease
