I have recently moved into a new property with a FLAT fireplace wall.
I would like to have a FALSE chimney breast built and then install a "living flame gas fire".
I hav'nt a clue how this can be done.
What does the false chimney breast need to be made of, etc to make it heat/fire proof. Also, are there any regulations on this ?

ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU

I don't think it really matters,

We had the same in our current house, we didn't actually want the fire at all, so had it removed then I built a false chimney breast using CLS timber and plaster board, in this I made two recesses one for a large LCD TV, and one below for the cable box, dvd, console etc. The one at the bottom lined up nicely with a hole that was left in the inner skin so gave extra depth for the dvd etc.

It ended up looking very good, and only took a day to do, then a bit of time to skim over.

Hi. Thanks for your help.

The trouble is, I want to put a "living flame gas fire"into the fire place so that is the concern.
I imagine that the false chimney breast would have to be heat/fire proof, so I'm not sure of the regulations on that, or how that could be done.

Thanks again.
