Fan gone on Worcester Condensing Boiler

My friends fan has gone on his Worcester 40CDi, what is the normal cause of a fan going. I have a feeling he had it on full whack (full flow temp) for a couple of years, would this be the problem??

things happen, they dont seem to be a brilliant fan, ive changed a few now.
