Hi Folks

The water from my sink basin hot tap is not flowing at the normal rate. I noticed it yesterday and prior to that the flow has been normal.

I noticed that I have to open the tap to its full in order to get a reasonable amount of water to flow through the tap. The other tap (cold tap) seems to be ok.

Could anyone advice what could be wrong with this tap?

What needs to be done in order to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I think in the wrong category here but sticking valve sounds likely.

All other hot taps in house ok?

provided you have not recently made any plumbing changes, I am going to guess that it is a tap with a knob or capstan that you rotate several times to screw up and down.

They are simple and have few moving parts. If you turn off the water supply and take it apart, starting from the top, you will probably find that the horseshoe clip, or the jumper, or the washer, has come loose and you can clean it up, put it back into place (or fit a new washer) and it will work fine for another 20 years.

If you look up "how to change a tap washer" you will find hundreds of diagrams and utube videos.
