FCU - spur or ring?

I am extending the ring main to feed my conservatory. I am going to fit 3 double sockets on the ring and a 2.5kW electric heater using an FCU. Does it make any difference if the FCU is fitted as part of the ring main or should it be connected to a spur? If it is fitted in the ring and fuse blows in the FCU I presume this will not interrupt the ring.

IMHO it is preferable to fit FCUs as part of the ring if you can, but it isn't essential, and if it would mean having it in a daft location then it's OK to put it on a 2.5mm spur. The fuse is on the load side of the FCU, not the supply, so if it blows it won't interrupt the ring.
