FCU's - Is there a difference.

Hi Guys,
Quick question for you. Are there 2 types of FCU's you can get. The reason for asking is that I have seen some with flex coming out of the bottom which connects to a boiler or something, but I have also seen some being used for feeding a socket behind a fridge or something with no visible flex or cable. Are they the same thing or are there two different types.

Some makes (GET for example) have a single type, which has a removeable section in the base for the flex, and a cord grip.

Some makes (MK for example) have two types. If you get one without a flex outlet in the base, you will be annoyed if it is required!
 
There's a 3rd type, with the flex outlet on the front, not the bottom edge...
