Every night arround 6pm we started getting unwanted phonecalls coldcalling I belive its called .
I asked very nicely to remove our number from their list but the calls kept coming sound familiar ?
well try this it works just talk to them once they have said who they are just talk to them don't let them get a word in edgeways talk about the weather what sort of day you've had anything exept what they want to hear ,it take about 5-6 mins a call before they hang up on you and only about 5 -6 calls and they have stopped completely brill it really works give it a go :x

You got too much time on your hands.

Just hang up and call ofcom or whoever deals with this.

Or after they have introduced themselves, say can you hold on, someone at the back door, leave them waiting a couple of minutes, then say sorry about that, apologize again and say you need the toilet, can you hang on?take another two minutes, then get back to them and say...sorry not interested.
They will soon get the message.

if your not expecting another call that night as they speak just lay the phone down , as the line is still open it used to stop them calling out again not sure if it still does

I registered with TPS and the calls I received must have dropped by 95%, very rare if I get a nusiance call now.

If I do, and for some reason its always a Sunday afternoon. They ask is Mr or Mrs there, I say 'yeah hold on'......put the phone down on the table and just go back to what ever I was doing, they soon get bored waiting and dont usually call back

TPS helps a lot. But only UK companies are bound by it.

The other trick I've used with the more persistent ones is to sound interested in their double glazing, new kitchens, or whatever it is they're flogging, and make an appointment for a salesman to call round.

"You don't mind if I carry on cooking my tea, do you?" I'll say to him when he arrives, "We can talk just as easily in the kitchen."

If he's still talking when my meal is ready I'll happily eat it in front of him. Then I'll interrupt his spiel and tell him that I never had any interest in his products, that it's a rented property so I don't have responsibility for any of that stuff, and explain that if his call centre felt entitled to waste my time on the phone then I had no hesitation in returning the favour.

Keeps me amused, anyway.

Same here but if I do get a call I tell them their call is illegal seems to do the trick.

I have a few extensions setup which just play annoying music in a loop, when they call me I just transfer them to a random annoying tune.

Quite a few call centers can't hang up a call in the first 5 minutes (without supervisor intervention) after it has been answered, so it's a good way to waste their time.

I was visiting some friends year ago and one of their sons was over from France, where he lived. The phone rang so John, the son, picked it up. He listened and, after a few seconds, he just put the phone down. "Someone trying to sell something", he said. The phone went again, so he did the same thing again. The saleman tried again a third time, same action. The phone rang a fourth time. John picked it up, listened for a few seconds and then broke in with a torrent of French which went on for about five minutes. Eventually he put the phone down, and said: "The guy at the other end rang off!!"

We all had a good laugh.

Bloody Labour Party are at it now!!

Just had an unsolicited call from them on my TPS registered line.

i have caller ID on my phone, unless i know the number i wont answer it.

if someone genuinely needs to get a hold of me they can leave a message.

my mate used to answer them and then give the phone to his four year old. you could hear them asking if daddy was coming back soon, his kid would say no hes just here watching tv or whatever.

just bar any caller that witholds their number. It's a free service.

Havn't had a problem for years...

I so wish I could do this with my mobile, and 08** numbers.
