I have a ferroli Modena 80E boiler in my house, last winter we had some problems with the hot water temperature when the heating had been on, so I changed a thermistor, I read your threads and switched over the wires and diagnosed the fault.
This year the same problem has come back again. I have been out and bought a pair of thermistors (I realise that last year I should have changed the sensors as a pair)
The heating is great, the water in the kitchen is hot (nearest to the boiler) but the bath and the shower are still not as hot as they should and the only way to fill the bath with hot water is to limit the flow, which obviously takes time.
I have had a new pcb board fitted two years ago (because of a clock fault)
Can anyone suggest what to check next, I have had engineers come out, but I find I have more experience than them.

Might have the flow rate too high. Also the hot water temp knob spindles break.

Set the hot water temperature to maximum on the boiler, open the bath tap fully and gas rate it...see FAQs. Should come out at around 30kw Gross. If that's ok then adjust the bath tap to around 9 litres a minute and it should heat the water to bath temperature.

I tried earlier today turning down the mains water pressure, this doesn't really help, i did this before contacting the forum, is that what you mean by flow rate, we have had the bath for three years and when we originally had the bath fitted the water flow was good and hot.

My girlfriend is running a bath at the moment and we are having to run the water very slowly for it to be hot, that is with the temp spindle on full as you suggested. my other worry is that the spindle for the water temperature does not seem to affect the boiler burn rate, I think you should notice a difference?

I have just done a test and the bath flow is 4L per minute and even then it is not as hot as it should be.

The hot water and central heating spindles are free, they still feel good.

Where do I find the FAQ's re the gas rates

Thanks for your help so far

FAQs are in the list of postings towards the top of the blist!

After measuring the gas rate you may decide that it would be better to get a proper professional to diagnose the fault properly for you.

I dont know where you get your engineers but you need someone who is totally competent. It does not help that your boiler is not one of the best and many dont want to touch them.
