Fiat Diablo Engine/Running problem

I have a Fiat Diablo 2007 van, with a problem. Sometimes when accelerating, lose of power then after a couple of minutes it picks up again. It is gradually going worse and now can take a good few miles to pickup. Once it picks up again it is OK for maybe a few days or a week, then it happens again. Also the Engine Management ORANGE light comes on and stays on until the next day.

Local garage will plug it in for you into the laptop, see what fault codes are logged. Best to delete all and watch for the most recent.
Probably just a sensor

I assume its a diesel, in which case the fuel filter could be blocked unless its been changed recently.
