any thoughts on this, i have an 02 punto which now has an orange light on, it looks like the engine injection failure light, but the book says this fault is a red light and will lead to a loss of power, which i dont have

The engine management lamp, or more correctly Malfunction Indicator Lamp, indicates that there is, or has been, an issue with either the fuelling, ignition or exhaust system in your car.
The fact that its lit will not necessarily reduce performance, but there will be a diagnostic trouble code stored in the cars on board computer, which can be read by anyone with the appropriate scanning equipment.
Even if the lamp goes off on its own accord (frequently when there are lambda sensor issues) the code will remain.
Once the DTC has been read, its possible to turn the lamp back off again due to a facility that the scanner has.
All MIL's that I have seen have been yellow with an engine picture on....but thats not to say there aren't others!
