Fibreglass insulation

That would be a con. You want 300mm to match current standard.
minor point of note, current standard is 270mm (why they sell 100mm base layer rolls for between joists and 170mm rolls for over them) though I certainly wouldn’t tell anyone not to install 300mm if they wanted to..

Tne 2022 changes mean LABC guidance is now (ideally) 150+150.

It was 100+170 hence the availability of a slightly strange thickness

Not entirely sure what you mean by LABC, but I suspect referring to the commercial entity LABC Ltd, that is a trading name of District Surveyors Ltd and acts as a membership organisation for local authority building control teams. They are nothing to do with regulations and are free to make any recommendations and guidance they like as to how compliance with regulations may be achieved, as do the Approved Documents

The 2022 changes to Part L did not make “300mm mineral wool” the regulation. The regulation/guidance is performance-based: for relevant existing roof/loft thermal-element work, the improved roof U-value is 0.16 W/m²K. Depending on product lambda, installation, joists, existing insulation and detailing, that may be achieved with around 250–300mm of mineral wool. 300mm may be a conservative installer standard, but it is not the regulation itself, so please don’t mislead by implying that it has to be 300 because LABC said so (especially when labcfrontdoor says 270) as it’ll just generate confusion

LABC issued guidance notes after the 2022 change and this guidance includes 150+150 mineral wool for flat ceilings. This is what BCOs will look for so in the real world this is what you need to provide.

Its a scam I have had about 10 calls and its actually automated and a recording they ask a question and then leave a gap and then its another question as if you have answered the last one it took me about 5 calls to realise and then I started answering with - nonsense replies ending in my name which the recording asked you to spell - and so I spell it out and my name is Mr C --- ending in T and then it says "great"
Its all based around "it has been deemed that traditional fibreglass has been shown to be dangerous" - or something like that. I think they are selling the evil spray insulation.
Its really unfortunate that its just a recording and I loose opportunity to rip them a new corn shoot
