yes, could be the sensor. It's normally located on the side of the engine where the coolant hoses enter the cylinder head but can't remember for your car. Just look for a couple of reasonably thin wires leading to what looks like a nut screwed into a metal bracket which will have big black coolant hoses running off it. You can't really go wrong removing it. To check if it's knackered then remove the wires and connect them together and see if the reading is any different. If the reading changes when you connect the 2 wires together or disconnect remove them altogether then the sensor is faulty. If it doesn't change at all then the dashboard or wiring could be at fault. A new sensor is a couple of quid. Just unscrew with a spanner it and screw the new one in, making sure you don;t overtighten it.
