Hi,

Well the building project is coming to the end and the builders have now finished and we now have our house back :D

We have had a window taken out and replaced by some french doors.
They have skimmed around the inside reveal of the door and just overlapped the internal walls on each side by about 10 inches.

Now if i go to paint i know there is going to be a horrible line visible where the new plaster finishes and the existing wall starts.
I have been told that if i apply a fine filler and sand it down on the join that it will do the trick and i won't see a line once painted with a couple of coats of paint!

Is this true and what is the best filler for this?

thanks in advance...

Give the wall/joint a good sand down with an orbital sander, fine fill any gaps or holes. Then dust down and give it 2-3 coats of white emulsion. Let it dry and look at the wall again to see if you can 'see' any joints.

If all ok then paint to colour of your choice.

Thanks Andy :D

I have done a quick search for fine fillers and they all seem to be pre-mixed in small quantities and I'm going to need quite a bit....

Is it available in a powder form to be mixed at home if so any recommendations on brand and where to purchase would be appreciated?

You can get Easi-fill just about anywhere.

i tend to use easi-fill in this situation. i use a 9" caulk board and over fill then blend it in with sanding. easi-fill is available from b&q in 10Kg bags.
