Hey all,

I'm hoping that somebody will be able to assist. I have a bedroom wall with decent plaster on, so I filled the few gaps/cracks, and then put on my primer - ready to paint the wall red.

Unfortunately this is what has happened:

The filler is showing through the primer, and the rest of the wall is patchy/runny. What can I do? I don't really want to add the paint now if it is going to look like this.

Any assistance/advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd guess that you have wallpaper paste on it or PVA at some point.

Use a roller and put a few coats of cheap emulsion on it. Or better still some cheap oil based primer.

It will more than likely be fine, but you could put a coat or two of cheap white emulsion on first to even-out the variation of background.

Hi, thanks for the replies. We are painting it a dark red colour, which is why we put on the grey primer. Wouldn't putting on a white emulsion lessen the colour?

Not really, if you use two or three topcoats.
