Filler for chases

Hopefully you’ll see the gulf of information you left out of your post with the hand wavy “well you just know you know?”

There is no precise measure, the mix, is what suits the job at hand, temperature, humidity, and speed of working. The answer to which, will be become obvious, as soon as the OP tries to use the mix.

Can anybody recommend a filler for chases and filling of old socket recesses up to 70mm? Other than the ready-to-use fillers, which work OK but are hugely expensive, I haven't been able to find anything. I was recommended Easifill 60 but on receiving it and and reading the package I see it's only suitable for layering up to 5mm, which is completely useless to me.

As said use Thistle bonding coat. Just be aware that is can set very quickly and aggressively sticks to stuff, so make sure your finish is ok and the tools are clean.

Mix it like a peaky cake mix. You don't want it too stiff and it will stiffen as sits in the bucket. You can add more water or more powder. Once it starts going though, it will go rapidly. We often fill chases with any left over dab. Just remember to try and leave room for skim.

Browning plaster which Is talked about here is discontinued.
You can use bonding but it high build and a bit rough, as it bits in it.
Just makes it hard work and no going for small narrow fills.
Magic mix works well IMO.
Keep it tidy with sponge and water

I did find one site that still claims to sell it, but I suspect that they have old, or no stock.

It is no longer listed on the British Gypsum site. I guess they are now pushing hardwall as the alternative for high suction walls- but I am not a plasterer...
