hi, im looking to lay vinyl sheeting over the floor boards as its a pretty flat surface, but where the boards are screwed down a lot of the screws are sunken in a few mm, which may show through, whats the best filler to cover these slight indents please?

I'm currently renovating a house where someone had the great idea to fill every screw with wood filler. It makes it such fun to have to router out the recessed screw and replace each board. 
I'd consider an underly to prevent the issue or choose a thicker vinyl floor tile. You never know when you need to lift a floor board in a hurry.

Ply or hardboard would be more sensible
