Filling a gap around a door

We have a gap to fill before the architrave can go on.
I thought easifill would be a quick and cheap option, considering I already have some.
It'll just be painted white. At some point, perhaps years, the hallway will eventually be re-done.

That's not just expanding foam in those gaps

So if I cut the expanding foam back, then the easifill will adhere to it?
Do I need to do anything special to achieve that?
Mesh tape over the foam?

i would moisten the foam prior to filling.

That's not just expanding foam in those gaps

didnt want the first windy day to to crack the paint when the door gets blown shut
