Filling a joint between plaster & mdf

A recess to the side of a chimney breast has been boarded over with mdf but i have to deal with the joint that now exists before i can emulsion the wall. I have sealed the mdf with Zin 123 but what should i use to fill the joint?

Where is the joint?

In the middle of the wall, or on the external corners?
