Filling around Boiler Flue Hole

Whoever filled that benchmark out had no idea what they were doing.

Hmmm, you are confirming my suspicions the installer was not very compentent or in the habit of carrying out shoddy work! They've now relocated to Spain still owing me half a days work

I have no idea how an installation sheet should have been filled out, just like the majority of the general public I'd imagine. Should all of those details been filled in at the time of installation? The boiler was serviced (by a different plumber) back in February and had no problems.

Does having a boiler installed by a corgi certified plumber and them making a half ar5ed attempt at filling in the installation book make it legal? If not, what would you suggest I do

Well I would not say ilegal, but you want to get someone round to look it over and check that you have whats required.

If they relocated to Spain why did you blank their details out?

Looks like the existing has been moved to another location to me, thats just the benchmark from when it was originally installed. New kitchen maybe?

If thats the case and your've lost the finishing ring, just cement it up? As said above, make sure the flue fall's away from the boiler as its a non condensing boiler, to stop rain water running into the boiler and rotting it out.

Looks like it may be a little short though, make sure you dont block any of the vent holes with cement, if it is as it looks in the picture, you may want to source a new flue, unless it is a telescopic flue kit.

If the inner flue seal is as useful as the outer one fumes could be entering the house!

RSF's only work if actually sealed from the room

On the plus side it's a good boiler that should stand you in good stead and if it has been moved was definately the right decision. I would have also moved it.

So now you just need a little plaster in the inside gap and sand/cement mix on the outside gap and you're done.

If it was moved there is a requirement to notify, I forget the code now something like four zeros for moving an existing appliance.

I don't think it's right to display people's personal details without their consent. The address on the log book shows his house, which I believe he still own.

The old boiler packed in and I assume the new flue didn't coincide with the old flue hole. I do remember something about him not being able to get the right flue pieces, so it's the result of having to do the job at short notice.

Yeah, it is slightly short so I wrapped it in plastic while I sealed the hole with cement.

In addition to having it serviced? The only comment the servicer had was that I need to cover the vent with a wire box to prevent anyone touching it whilst hot.

Doesn't mean the rest of the system is up to scratch though - and CORGI numbers are a matter of publish record mines 138845.

OK, he was 117320.

Not in the sense he crafted a vent out of old baked bean cans! The boiler sits in an unused chimney and I asked about venting upwards rather than through the wall. He couldn't get a flue of the right type/length (out of stock), so through the wall it went.
