Good evening,

I'm looking to fill a hole which is cut in plasterboard, which itself is dot/dabbed over some kind of breeze block. This is all to go behind the chimney of a kitchen extractor fan, so will be partially hidden anyway. The fan itself will be held up with corefix, but I'm in a few minds over how to go about filling the required areas. I know I can't fill over the junction box.

So far, plan is;

- Expanding foam under the edges of the floating plasterboard to give filler something to sit against.
- Guardzz on all surfaces
- Toupret interior filler over the section highlighted in red box, in layers perhaps just to help with drying.
- Decorate

My concern is that it's an external wall, and I'm mindful that the filler over time could suck moisture through. I don't know if there's a better filler? Note that the wires are shallow, so I can't fill in sections of plasterboard and skim.

Any suggestions welcome.

Note that the wires are shallow so not deep enough to replace sections of plasterboard.

That JB is not suitable for that installation nor do the cables appear to be in safe zones

I'll be sure to inform whoever rennovated the kitchen 15 years before I moved in.

In the meantime, I expect my electrician will deal with the wiring and junction box removal when he comes next week to inspect, but to my knowledge he isn't a filler expert.
