if u have a circuit which is for example a ring in 2.5 and then there is a spur off it in 4mm , do u explain that in the cert when it asks for size of conductors etc?

what cert are you doing?
What work are you doing?

If its an extension to an existing cct then you'll only be doing a Minor works cert so CSA doesnt go there.
BTW - why are you chnaging the CSA. If the ring is in2.5mm then additions should salso be 2.5mm

The Minor Works Certificates I complete (EasyCert Professional by Tysoft) ask for CSA of the lives and cpc conductors.
The model MWC's in the rear of BS7671:2008 don't for some reason.

You should record the size of the smallest conductor in the circuit if there's a change in CSA.

thanks garymo.
the 4mm spur is already there.
the mwc that i complete do ask for csa

Obviously someone who can't do simple cable calcs and put in a cable of a bigger size to cover his back! Not thinking or the resistance in the 2.5 ring cable back to CU

Maybe the 4mm spur is routed through unfavourable conditions?
Remember, each cable installed for a 32A ring final must be capable of carrying 20A.
