Im trying to fill the gap between the skirting board and the wall.
The walls are old and not straight and the gap is quite big in places.
I am just losing all my filla down the back.
Are there any easier ways of doing this?

also of filling the gap between the windowsill and new windows?

I am wanting to paint the new woodwork and have done some of it with a primer.
Now pal tells me I should have painted the nots in the wood with a special stuff first!

Is it really neccesary and if so .. can I still do it on top of the primer?

assuming the plaster and skirting is fim and in good nick roll/crumple newspaper to fit push in till theres about 12 to 18mm gap to fill

how olds the wood and was it previously painted !!!!!
if its not feeling tacky youve a fair chance it will be ok

Ill try that with the gaps in the old house thankyou.

The new wood I was on about is in a new extension, so its the skirting, doorframes and doors and window sills.

I have only done a little of this with primer which is dry.

The wood is 'new' so hasnt been painted before but I dont know how old it is/ how long it had been cut before being used.

youve got a 1 in30 chance off a knot leaking

you could get every other knot leaking  or none for months
even completly stable knots can leak with the aid off a heat gun

by old i meant in the fully seasoned several years old ,old

if the paint is fully dry and not sticky to the touch and

if you only talking a few feet i would just take the risk and fully paint it

as the effort involved stripping 3 coats off a leaking knot isnt much more than removing one layer off paint as the resin stops the paint sticking and helps force the paint off
