filling the gap behind skirting board taken out

Hi everyone
Any advice how to fix this?
I just re plastered the walls. Already took skirting boards out to put new one after laminate flooring. Three walls of my living room have been re plastered and one side seemed ok and has the paint already on. I caused some damage When I took the skirting board of that wall out, a layer of skim plus paint on that wall came off. I'm gonna use a wide skirting board to cover any issues but I believe that doing this still doesn't cover the problem. Can anyone advise how to fix that as I have decided to paint the walls first, then flooring and skirting boards. Shall I fill the gap behind the skirting boards and if yes which product is the best and gives a better finish preventing cracks later?

From what i can see, the original plaster finish was applied to an unprepared backing?

Cut off all contact with plaster and the floor - cut back 40mm to 50mm.
Your skim coat has lippage at the very bottom where you stopped it - knock the lippage off.

Use whatever powder or S&C is handy to fill the deep pockets and gouges.
Use your regular finish plaster to patch skim.
Mark a level line just above the skirting height, and knock off to that line. Feather in to that line.


When the patching skim has dried, but before doing any fixing, then paint down low enough for the skirting to cover.
I'd pre-paint the skirting if it suits?

No need for wide new skirting but whatever.
