Hi

I'm getting my living room walls skimmed & I also wanna replace the skirting boards cos its an old house & the skirts have seen better days. Am I best ripping off the skirting boards first, then getting the walls skimmed & then putting the new skirting boards on? Whats the best way of doing it? Any help gratefully received :)

Yes,rip off the skirting board,( you might have to makes good in certain area as you rip the skirting board off ) skimmed the wall then make sure the plaster is dry before renewing the skirting board otherwise the damp will swell up the wood.If the skirting board is okay then skimmed to the top of the skirting board depending on the thickness of the wood.
