findfast.exe not working

Hi, Got my new PC a cheap Compaq from PC World anyway everytime it starts up it tells me that findfast.exe could not run. Is there anyway i can repair it or remove it as it doesn't seem to make any difference to performance. OS is Vista Home Premium.

I would disable the service.

In fact, if I could, I'd surgically remove the service, dash it to the dusty earth, stamp on its still-beating heart, and let the circling vultures pick the stringy meat from its weak and spindly bones.

As softus said.. Disable it from starting. It is either spyware or it's legitimate function is part of the Microsoft Office package. You do not need it to be running, so disabling it will not cause your pc any problems or conflicts.

Do you have an old version of MS Office?? Findfast was a background service that indexed your office files to make searching for them faster. More trouble than it was worth though as seemed to eat more and more resources.
