New PC (vista) Ethernet not working

Just plugged in my new pc, but I can't get Ethernet connection to work to my router, it's telling me that the cable is not plugged in. If I unplug it and plug it into my laptop it then connects right away.
Anyone else had this problem, linksys router, compaq pc and vista home premium.

problem solved changed the speed of the ethernet card to 10 half duplex, all working!

yet another example of how bad Windows Vista really is we have 1 computer with this rubbish installed nothing but agrovation

Why do you say that Vista is rubbish when it's the same as XP internally?

And if you think it's rubbish, why did you buy it?
