Finish oak staircase without changing the colour - lacquer??

I have just finished fitting an oak staircase and I would like to seal the wood without changing the colour. I have looked at normal varnish or wax and they seem to change the colour to a yellow / orange oak colour which isnt the colour we like.

I have seen a couple of funiture shop finish samples and noticed that the one colour that doesnt seem to change the natural colour of the wood is a "lacquer" finish.

can anyone recommend a lacquer finish that could use on oak ?

Or indeed any other finish i might be able to use ?

Liberon do an acrylic sealer which they say is non-yellowing. Coincidentally I've just finished using some on a new window board I've fixed. It will, of course, change the appearance of the wood but shouldn't darken it significantly.

Bear in mind, though, that over time UV light will tend to change the colour of the wood.
