I need to finish off the edge of patio I laid last year. At the moment, there are sharp edges of utility slabs with the exposed bed of sand and cement mix below.

Money is a little tight at the moment, so the only thing I have is sand and cement and lots of 9" x 2" shuttering.

With those materials, could I construct some formwork set back from the patio edge, and fill this with cement or would that look a mess? Alternatively, could I level the exposed edge with cement and fix the shuttering to it? The shuttering has been soaked in linseed oil for years.

Just struggling to think how to finish it off, without having to buy bricks and source more hardcore! I've attached a trust MS Paint image for clarity.
