The builders have fitted a movement joint in the thermalite wall and rendered either side of it on the outside. On the inside plugging up the movement gap is a strip of white foam (bit like flat pipe insulation), when I look at the vertical strip from the inside I can see daylight creeping around the edges of the foam in various places.

Surely this contravenes all the thermal heat loss prevention we have to accord with? I intend to dot n dab 62.5 mm sheets of thermal plasterboard on the inside walls, but how am I supposed to blank off this air leakage path? is there something like a cavity closer I nail across the joint?
