Finishing slate verge

I have a small lean to single storey I need to reslate.

What's the easiest way to finish the verge? I need to finish it in the next couple of days ideally so want to avoid ordering any dry verge kit.

Can you just overlap the slates over the edge and then cement/board it underneath to prevent rain?
