Is it possible to achieve the required 20mins of fire protection with a 35mm modern, moulded, hollow/honeycomb door painted with an intumescent paint or similar product? (Frame strips would be used as well, of course.)
All I can find on Google relates to conserving solid wooden doors with thinner panelling in old houses. If it can be done to virtually any door, it could be half the price of buying fire doors with the same performance.
