under current building regs when hanging a fire door do i need to put in a intumescant strip as well as a fire door stop.

A strip is more important than the stop I believe. Not necessarily a cold smoke seal though especially if domestic.

Both are needed on domestic IIRC.

Cold is generally non domestic.

25mm stops are no longer required for doors with intumescent seals. Actually technically I don't think any stops are required.

when you refer to fire doors do you mean the ones on your landing leading to the stair well or the doors in your apartment ?
you can adjust them both to some extent.
