The delivery crew who recently arrived with my new range cooker had to take it away again because of a regulation about fireproofing next to the gas hob - there is a cupboard fitted on top of a breakfast bar which is 60mm away and apparentlly needs to be at least 150mm or fireproofed. There is already a range cooker in the same position, with no evidence of scorching, but apparently the rules have changed since this was installed. behind the cooker there is a steel splash back. The ideal solution would be to put the same steel onto the side of the cupboard in question but I can't find anywhere which will cut steel to size, the alternative appears to be to tile it which whould be horrible. Any thoughts?

fireproof paint or supalux would be a short term solution, that gets the cooker fitted and gives you time to sort out a better solution then the paint can be covered or the supalux easily removed, check the tinternet for someone to cut the stainless sheet
PS i dont think this reg has changed, but obviously whoever fitted the first cooker didnt know/care, this happens all the time when we turn up and say it cant be fitted the customer complains that there is one there already, but fitting it makes us wrong as well as the first guy
