Hi all, having a strange problem with my 50/90 boiler. So I bled the boiler , started it up and away it goes will stay operating while on 24hr setting and all is good. Eventually once its off for a period of time or if I set it up for timed operation then it attempts to come on gives a bit of a humming and stops. Once i take off the fan cover and give it a bit of a turn away it goes again and will stay going until the same as above happens. Tormented is a understatement having cleaning out absolutely everything. Any help would be fantastic thanks

Failed motor capacitor

OR sticking oil pump.

Better correctly diagnosed by an engineer familiar with faults on that model.

But you do not say how old the boiler is and if you have had it serviced every year as you should have.

My guess is the fan motor capacitor. Easy to measure the capacitance if you have a good meter.
