Apologies if this isn't quite the right part of the forum...
I had a wood burning stove fitted a few years ago, recessed into a chimney breast. Recently, the fireboard which lines the right side of the cavity has begun to warp, and as a result pulls away from the brickwork behind it, cracking the fine plaster over the front and opening up a gap along the front of about 5-10mm (though it closes up again when the stove is cold).
Can anyone recommend a good way to prevent this happening?
My current thoughts are that I can either try to fill up the gap with some kind of plaster/cement so its held in the 'open' state, or try to drill through the board and fix it 'closed' with fixings of some kind.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'd prefer not to try to completely remove and refit the boards if possible!
